Overview
What is XION?
XION is the Trust Layer for the Internet. It is a Layer 1 blockchain that rebuilds trust between people, brands, and platforms through zero-knowledge verification infrastructure built atop a complete abstraction layer.
The internet has a trust crisis: nearly 40% of users are bots, businesses waste $80B+ annually on ad fraud, and user data generates billions for platforms while users receive nothing. Traditional Web2 infrastructure cannot solve this because verification requires sharing the underlying data, central authorities can be compromised, and there is no way to prove data has not been tampered with.
XION solves this with Web3. Zero-knowledge proofs allow data to be verified cryptographically without revealing it, without relying on a trusted third party, and without any possibility of tampering. The receiver of a proof can fully trust the data being shared, knowing the user could not have fabricated or modified it.
But powerful verification infrastructure is useless if people cannot access it. That is why XION integrates Generalized Abstraction directly at the protocol level: accounts, signatures, gas, payments, devices, and interoperability are all abstracted away. Users log in with email, pay with credit cards, and never encounter blockchain complexity.
The result is Web3 that is both useful (solves real-world problems through verification) and usable (completely invisible to end users).
Why XION Exists
Web3 has two unsolved problems:
1. Crypto is not useful enough. Most L1s optimize for DeFi, TPS, and speculative use cases. There are very few mainstream applications that make people need blockchain. XION changes this by making verification the core primitive, which unlocks applications that solve problems billions of people face daily: proving identity without doxxing, monetizing personal data, porting reputation across platforms, and eliminating fraud.
2. Crypto is not usable enough. Even chains with strong UX improvements still require users to understand wallets, gas, and blockchain concepts. XION removes all of this at the protocol level. The blockchain becomes invisible infrastructure, not a user-facing product.
Architecture at a Glance
XION's architecture has two primary layers:
Verification Layer (The Truth Engine)
The Truth Engine is XION's verification infrastructure. It applies zero-knowledge proofs to three data sources:
ZK Module (zkTLS): Verifies data from any website by creating cryptographic proofs of TLS-encrypted web sessions. Prove your Uber rating, bank balance range, or social media following without exposing the underlying data.
DKIM Module (zkEmail): Verifies email contents using DKIM signatures that email providers already attach. Prove purchase receipts, account notifications, or employment verification emails without revealing the full email.
App Attestations: Verifies mobile application data through cryptographic attestation of in-app state. Prove fitness achievements, delivery history, or streaming habits from mobile apps.
Abstraction Layer
Generalized Abstraction embeds critical blockchain functionalities directly into the protocol:
Account Abstraction: Meta Accounts replace wallets. Users authenticate via email, FaceID, passkeys, or social login.
Signature Abstraction: Supports all cryptographic curves. Applications request familiar actions ("confirm purchase"), not transaction signatures.
Gas Abstraction: Parameterized fee layer lets apps sponsor transactions, accept fees in any token, or build fees into pricing. Users never see gas.
Payment Abstraction: Credit cards, Apple Pay, and fiat currency displays. Conversion and settlement happen invisibly.
Device Abstraction: Seamless cross-device access. No browser extensions or device-specific setup.
Interoperability Abstraction: Cross-ecosystem operations without users managing bridges, wrapped tokens, or multiple accounts.

Consensus & Execution
XION is built on the Cosmos SDK with CometBFT consensus and CosmWasm smart contract execution. It uses Proof of Stake with inflation calculated only against staked tokens (not total supply), creating sustainable economics. The network supports IBC (Inter-Blockchain Communication) for native cross-chain interoperability.
Key Differentiators
Only L1 with integrated verification infrastructure. zkTLS, zkEmail, and App Attestations are built into the protocol, not bolted on as third-party services.
